my one year mark

It's been about a year since I graduated from college, I just did my own taxes for the first time ever (ok, yeah my dad was on the phone for moral support), tomorrow I will have officially been at my "big girl job" for 6 months, and honestly I am still the most clueless human on the planet. I'm pretty sure I've been in at the very least a mild panic ever since about 3 weeks before I graduated, so if you have your cap and gown ready to go and you haven't turned into a future terrified creature who just wants to crawl in a hole and hide from all responsibility, congratulations, I am honestly so very proud of you.

To celebrate that I've been an "adult" for a year now, I did what all responsible adults do and dyed my hair green (but, just the ends of it cause I'm too scared to bleach all my hair). My boss never commented on it so he never noticed, he doesn't care, or he didn't have the heart to tell me that it isn't totally appropriate to show up at your big girl job with green hair. I'm just gunna roll with it and not worry.

I've been gearing myself up for a lot of changes recently and adding a little green to my hair wasn't even part of that. Let's be honest, I am not one of those girls that feels dramatic and changes up her hair. I've basically had the same haircut (aside from a brief adventure into fringe land) for almost my whole life now. But I am *fingers crossed that I can actually find a place* moving to Salt Lake at the end of the month and that has got me feeling all kinds of adult and nervous. If you know of an open place for me to live in Salt Lake please let me know, or if you live in Salt Lake, please prepare to be my friend because I am not going to have any.

(hi this is the best I could do at a image slideshow. please help me if you know how to make this more beautiful?)

Here's to making the rest of my time in Provo worth it, and to drinking all of the dc lav limes (diet coke with lavender and lime from Sodalicious, obviously), and to actually finding housing so that I don't tell everyone I'm leaving and end up just staying here at Bromont in good ole' P-Town for forever!!!!

my first Jazz game

I've sort of got this list going of things that I want to do before I graduate from BYU and leave Provo. It's not a real list because it's more of a thing where I occasionally think to myself I should do that, and then I store it in some sort of mental compartment that I 100% forget about until it becomes relevant again. But, a lot of the things that I have been thinking I should finally do have just been kind of happening for me without any real effort or planning of my own. It's actually almost a little weird. I think this is the universe's way of preparing me to leave Provo. (knock on wood because now that I just said that I am going to be in Provo the rest of my life, what?)

One of these things was to go to a Jazz game, because it seems like something I should do. I just don't really care a ton about professional basketball. Ok yeah, maybe not at all, sorry!! I didn't grow up in a basketball loving family (but not basketball hating either, basketball indifferent?), maybe because no one in my family is particularly tall so we are not the best basketball players ourselves, who knows? (mental note I should go to another BYU basketball game before I graduate...) Kudos to you if you love it. I support you and think you are great.

Anyways, Hilary's brother-in-law offered her some tickets to a Jazz game, so why not? I actually didn't even make it till the last quarter because of a meeting that went quite long, but I still wanted to go sort of just so that I could say I did. (Don't worry I know that that is a little weird.)

Even if I was only there for a rather short amount of time given that it takes an hour to drive up to Salt Lake, I still enjoyed it.

The Jazz lost. But, I suppose given my Georgia pride, I should be a Hawks fan anyways. Are they any good? I don't know, but I don't really think so? Help me! (Can we talk about college football instead? As a southern girl, that's the stuff I grew up on.)

Regardless of my professional basketball ignorance, I had fun. I can't believe I didn't make any jokes about jazz hands when I was there.

Well in conclusion, GO JAZZ! SPORTZ!

Oh, and aside from the conclusion! I also walked out on frozen Utah Lake which I had never done before for some reason and had also made mental note to do. What? It was beautiful, but also very cold (yeah that's probably why I've never done it before).

peace. love. and sports.
