I'm here!
I made it safe and sound and am now falling in love with the city of lights all over again. I am settling into my new home of the next three months quite nicely, and making my best efforts to look local (which is actually impossible when you are walking around with large groups of people all speaking in English together). I haven't done much since being here what with all the moving in, getting acquainted, and going to church today I have yet to properly go exploring. Don't worry though, that is happening tomorrow when Phoebe and I are planning a stroll around the Eiffel Tower, lunch in the city before class, and of course more exploring after class.
My host family lives just outside of Paris in Croissy sur Seine (which is literally seconds from Le Vesinet where my parents lived when they were in France...and also where Johnny Depp currently owns a home about a kilometer away...celeb stalking anyone?) They are super nice and have four kids, one who is at university and a boy and two girls at home. They are insane nice and have already proven that they will be the perfect host family. They also said that they eat crepes every Sunday...so I think I'm going to fit in just fine with them. Here's a little look at my living quarters (me and my roommate Phoebe have the whole basement to ourselves with our own private little entrance)...
I was insane proud of myself because everyone in the host family said that I was the first student they have ever had who started having conversations in French with them on the very first day they were there. They said that I was way better than they ever expect and were quite impressed with my French speaking abilities. Pat on the back for me :)
More fun things to come. I seem to get lost a lot (like me and three other girls might have been lost for an hour tying to find church this morning. woops!) so I know that all sorts of crazy adventures are just waitin' for me.
paix. amour. et Paris

took a little walk as soon as I got to the hotel. needed to stretch out those legs after such a long flight!! and of course I couldn't wait a second to roam around my favorite city. |
obviously the first meal I bought myself was a crepe with nutella and bananas |

and this is the dinner that the family made us the first night since they had to go to a party and couldn't eat with us. it was delicious nonetheless. |
